On April 22, Marvel Studios released the long-awaited official trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine” with appearances from stars of the film Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. After a slew of what has been considered by some Marvel fans “mediocre titles,” there are high hopes that the Merc With a Mouth’s third film entry will bring a returning success to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Within the trailer, there are nods to various MCU products such as an enlarged ant man skull serving as villain Cassandra Nova’s base and mystic arts portals that potentially tie back to magic users like Dr. Strange and Wong. Additionally, Azael and Lady Deathstrike from the Fox X-Men universe make brief appearances, further expanding the list of this movie’s potential cameos.
While it may be too early to judge, “Deadpool and Wolverine” is shaping up to be a promising film, its trailer packed with hints of emotion, humor, action and many cameos. Deadpool may truly end up being the Marvel Jesus that he self-proclaimed himself to be.
