Club Rush is around the corner, which means it’s time to start choosing clubs for the school year of 2023-2024. 

 Sage Creek High School has a variety of clubs to choose from, including Mock Trial, Creative writing, 3-D design and many more. At Sage Creek, the Bobcat den is home to at least 86 clubs, including a variety of sports, artistic, educational, political, culinary, social, international and especially Sage Creek spirit clubs. 

The purpose of Club Rush is to build a sense of community on campus. Club Rush allows student clubs for all groups of passion and culture to come together as one. Students join clubs to share their talents and knowledge within the clubs that align and support their skills. Every Sage Creek student has the opportunity to be involved in their community if they are willing to participate in school clubs to seek out their passions in life. 

“I’ve always looked at Club Rush as a way for students to showcase their club’s interests, and hopefully gain new members,” said senior Leilani Schwartz, a member of the Mock Trial club.

Club Rush offers students a wide range of options and choices to review and consider before selecting their clubs during Club Rush week. 

“Club Rush provides an opportunity for clubs to promote themselves and for students to see multiple clubs at once,” said senior Colin Rajabi, another member of Mock Trial. 

This week allows students to experience new atmospheres that they’ve never taken part in before. Besides students having access to learn about their passions, they can also have the time to become proficient in other subjects and fields of study.

When it comes to artistic creativity, prolific artistic clubs provide students with the necessary materials and colors they might need for their innovative projects. Art clubs are sources of inspiration that students can rely on when expressing their emotions and perspectives through physical and digital art on campus.

“My club provides a creative writing outlet for students to view writing as fun rather than a chore,” said senior Luke NeSmith, President of the creative writing club.

Art clubs can also help students see English lessons as useful key tools that will help guide them through their artistic visions of writing. 

They also improve the students’ sense of self-expression and self-esteem while encouraging teamwork and socialization. As a result, those clubs boost students’ creativity and imagination. 

Student clubs can inspire students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace a new skill of cooperation and social interactions. Students interested in public service and politics are welcome to join political clubs, such as Speech and Debate club and Mock Trial. 

“Mock Trial is an excellent method to improve your public speaking skills while also learning about how a real courtroom works,” said Schwartz. “Students who join, gain the unique experience of participating in a mock trial, while also being able to network and meet professionals in the field.”

Political clubs are beneficial to join for they provide an outlet of expression and diverse discussions. These clubs will help students meet individuals who share similar political interests and values. Clubs that involve lectures and lessons of civic importance can assist students in their awareness of how U.S government institutions operate. 

“Mock Trial benefits the Bobcat community by providing a venue for students to practice the skills they gain in class (e.g., English or Government),” said Rajabi. 

School clubs are also seen as spots for students to learn and exercise their talents and knowledge that they’ve received in and outside of school.

For educational and volunteer clubs, they help students with their communication skills, foster creativity and teach them how to work effectively with others. The academic league, key club, and science olympiad are useful for students who are willing to explore the world of academics and look great on college applications and future job resumes. 

Club Rush Week begins on Oct. 16 and runs from Monday to Friday, Oct. 20 during lunch. At Sage Creek, students can join clubs including Bobsquad, cooking, Academic League, surf, Community Arts and more. This is an incredible opportunity, so come out during lunch and see if a club interests you!
