On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the boys and girls lacrosse team faced off in the Bobcat Arena for their final scrimmage of the season. This co-ed game was their final send off after two great seasons for the lacrosse programs.
For the boys team, they were able to end this season with a record of 6-9. This allowed them to make it to the playoffs and progress to quarterfinals.
Boys Lacrosse Coach Dan Stofka described how he felt has been coaching the team for years and is proud of how far they have come.
“This season was a major improvement from the last. The team grew so much, and I am excited to see what we will be able to do next year,” Stofka said.
Girls also had a great season, ending with a record of 7-8, while also making it to the playoffs. They were able to make it all the way to the semifinals before losing a close game to Pacific Ridge 9-13, marking the end of an amazing run.
The boys and girls game was played with girls lacrosse rules, and both teams swapped sticks. The teams came 30 minutes early to trade and practice with the new gear, which was hard to adjust to for some people.
Boys Lacrosse player Damian Bobrikov discussed the challenges he faced during the game.
“The girls’ sticks were hard to get used to at first, but the game was still really fun to play anyways. I also got to try new positions I normally don’t get to play, which was also fun,” Bobrikov said.
Once both teams practiced with the new gear, the game started. The game began with two goals from the girls followed up by two goals from the boys, which ended the half with a score of 4-4.
Once the second half began, the girls scored three quick goals. The boys were able to respond with one more after this, but the girls quickly followed with yet another goal. In the end, the girls overpowered the boys and won 10-6.
Girls Lacrosse Team Captain Katharine Emmons had another reason to enjoy this game.
“The bond between our two teams is something that I don’t think many other programs at sage have,” Emmons said. “I am forever grateful for this lacrosse team, and I will remember it for years to come.”
Both teams ended their seasons with impressive results, and are excited to see what comes next year in the programs.
