What to Expect for Hoopcoming Week

With Sage Creek’s fifth Hoopcoming just around the corner, The Sage met with ASB to learn about what Bobcats should expect to see this year.

Hoopcoming week will start on Monday, Jan. 29 with a sports themed spirit day. Tuesday is snow day, Wednesday is twin day, Thursday is retro day and Friday is Bobcat day.

On Friday, there will be a pep rally in which students will hear the final Hoopcoming royalty announced.

ASB has been working hard in the last few weeks in preparation for Hoopcoming.

“A basketball game, a spirit week, a pep rally, an amazing dance … we are holding some cool festivities before the basketball game. Everyone is working really hard on these festivities and they should be a great time,” junior Danny Rubin, a member of ASB, said.

Rubin assisted in the planning on Hoopcoming along with junior Gray Hatter and senior Duncan Kelley. There have been some new additions to the Hoopcoming festivities this year, according to Hatter.

“A snow day with a special surprise. [An] after school basketball game versus teachers. The biggest change is that we are going to be doing Bobcat Day. We are hoping to create a lasting tradition similar to other high schools in our area with a day full of celebration for the school,” Hatter said.

As for the dance itself, students should expect some big changes.

“We are going to have appetizers, a great DJ (finally) and even Wii’s setup for some Mario Kart gaming,” said Duncan.

“We want to see as many people come out to the games, festivities and dance. We also hope that the students have a great time dressing up for spirit days. It’s gonna be a great time.” Rubin said.
