Suhani Singh, a senior here at Sage Creek, has stood out during this school year. She is going to San Diego State University to major in early childhood education. After getting her bachelor’s degree, she hopes to become a kindergarten teacher. Next year, Suhani will be in an integrated teaching credential program.
She was inspired to follow this path because of her love for children. When not doing schoolwork or studying, Suhani is a summer camp counselor and a volunteer at Kelly Elementary.
“It’s super fun, and I just really love kids,” Singh said.
Volunteering and tutoring students have all helped spark her desire and want to become a teacher and support her dream.
“Volunteering at schools and I am an academic tutor for the ELD class, so I help co-teach English to native Spanish speakers, and I think that also inspired me to further my passion for teaching,” Singh said.
She has wanted to be a teacher her whole life. Her love for kids has inspired her to follow this pathway.
“It has not changed, I have always loved working with kids,” Singh said.
Señor Kramar, a Spanish teacher at Sage Creek, has known her for years. He first taught her in Spanish 2A-3A, and he currently has her for AP Spanish.
He noted her spectacular performance in his class and her determination to do her best work.
“She’s grown a lot, but what stayed consistent is that she refuses to do poor or mediocre work. She does phenomenal every time,” Kramar said.
Kramar believes her passion for being a teacher will help her to impact her community and become an unforgettable teacher to so many kids.
“She’s currently working with students in the ELD program and helping Dr. Basista in that class. And I think that gives her a really good experience, but it also just shows that that’s something she’s driven to do,” Kramar said.
Suhani’s passion for kindergarten teaching has proven so far to give her confidence and the persistence to always do her best and work towards achieving her goals.
