On Jan. 9, 2024, Jon Favreau announced “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a new Star Wars movie that will be releasing on May 22.
The movie will star Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian, David Acord as Grogu, Steve Blum as Garazeb Orrelios and more.
Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) is looking for a Hutt, an intelligent species of alien in Star Wars. He meets someone who gives him a deck of cards that have multiple criminals on them for him to take out.
In the trailer, there seems to be an ex-imperial, someone who used to work for the empire, who says, “long live the empire.” This implies that the galactic empire from the original trilogy (“A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”) could be returning.
The film takes place five years after the events of “Return of the Jedi.” It appears that Din has his old ship, the Razor Crest, back. Fans can speculate that the movie’s plot is about preventing another war, while the character Din could be plotting revenge.
Grogu, nicknamed “Baby Yoda,” is seen with a new pod in the trailer. The trailer also shows a big, white sea serpent.
Din seems to be in trouble with the Hutt he was seeking, because the Hutt says in the trailer, “You will suffer, and then, it will be his turn.” This might mean that the Mandalorian did something in the past to cross this Hutt.
The film will feature returning characters such as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios from the Star Wars show “Star Wars: Rebels.”
Tyson Kuhn, a freshman at Sage Creek, watched the trailer. “I’m excited for what the movie is going to be about,” Kuhn said.
Max Vanetsky, a junior at Sage Creek, is excited to see the film. “It just looks really cool,” said Vanetsky. “My favorite part was seeing Grogu and the small creatures in the mini land speeder.”
Star Wars fans are excited for the upcoming film and can’t wait to see it in theaters on May 22.
