“Heartbroken. Betrayed. Not what I followed her for.”
All words described by former fans of Bambi (@beaglebagelbambi), the star beagle on Instagram with over a million followers… now down to 40.
It all started with her post announcing a free giveaway cameo, a personalized video for fans made by the creator. The challenge was simple: comment and like her next three posts and get put into a spinny wheel to get randomly chosen for a cameo.
Some things so simple turn out to be so dangerous.
The notifications came flooding in after the winner, Caroline Clarke, was decided.
“Ok, I need some think time,” is what she told Bambi after receiving the news. Others had different things to say.
“This is so unfair,” said @exbambifan.
“I heard Bambi was already cancelled on X in 2013.”
“She’s way different IRL,” @cancelallbeagles commented.
The comments just kept on coming. Later that evening she came out with a statement:
“I thought this would be a great way to bring my community together, but has only brought us apart. This is not the beagle world I want to live in,” Bambi said, utterly distraught.
Before this, Bambi’s account had one main goal: to share her beagle life. The heartwarming page was meant to be a safe space, but the hate has done irreparable damage. Despite still posting (not as frequently), this sheds light to a bigger issue: cyberbullying.
One negative comment can DERAIL the career of a beagle. If you don’t have any treats to give, don’t bother.
