Pokémon Champions will be a new battle-focused Pokémon game releasing in April 2026. It’ll be free to Start (F2S), which means it’s free to download and play on the device but with paid upgrades with the game. It will be available on Android, iOS, Nintendo and Nintendo Switch 2 devices.
It will feature all previous battle gimmicks, such as Terastalization, Dynamax/Gigantamax, Z-Moves and Mega Evolution
In Mega Evolution, players can power up your Pokémon for the rest of the time they’re not fainted with a special stone (that’s basically their name + ïte- like for Lucario: Lucarionite), with Z-Moves, players can unleash a powerful move, in Dyanamax/Gigantamax, the player’s Pokémon gets bigger and with Terastalization, players can make their Pokémon a pure type and can even change its type completely.
Players will be able to transfer their Pokémon from other games into Champions through Pokémon HOME. In Pokémon HOME, players can take their Pokémon from one game, move them into HOME,and transfer them to another game.
In the game, players will battle in multiplayer. There’ll be a recruiting system in which players can choose what Pokémon they want to battle alongside them. The player will start with 20 boxes, which are where you store the Pokémon you’re not using and can pay for it to be upgraded to 80 boxes.
The game will feature Ranked Battles where you can battle with trainers from around the world, like in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. There will also be private battles where you can battle with your friends. There will be both single battles in which you send out one Pokémon at a time and double battles in which you use two Pokémon at a time.
There will also be a training system in which you can customize your Pokémon’s stats. This includes raising their speed, teaching them new moves and changing their nature which can change their stats and behavior.
Tyson Kuhn, a freshman at Sage Creek, is excited about the upcoming Pokémon game. “I like the idea behind Pokémon Champions, though I worry it may focus too much on competition,” Kuhn said.
Maddox Fauchs, a senior at Sage Creek, saw the trailer for Pokémon Champions. “my favorite part about the trailer was that I could change my Pokémonś stats and ailment,” Fauchs said. “My team might consist of fire, plants and water.”
So, Pokémon Champions” seems like it might grow the Pokémon fanbase even more. Even though Pokémon is the highest grossing franchise of all time, it can always get bigger.
