A Day on Our Carlsbad Coast

  • Two surfers return to shallow waters after their surfing session. The dense fog arrived suddenly, causing many people to retreat from the ocean and call it a day.

  • Two surfers ride the same wave near the shores of the Carlsbad Tide Pools. The surfer on the left rides a white surfboard while the one on the right rides on an orange one.

  • A surfer walks through the shallow water of the ocean near the Carlsbad Tide Pools. They venture toward their desired spot to launch into the water on their surfboard.

  • Near the Carlsbad Tide Pools, the beach harbored waves of tranquility. Colors of pink and blue paint the sky, reflecting its colors onto the ocean waves.

  • The Carlsbad Tide Pool is full of large mossy rocks. Though very slippery to stand upon, their green color is certainly a beautiful and intriguing sight.

  • The “golden hour” illuminates the shoreline. With the tide low, the rocks that are typically hidden by the waves are now visible.

  • A woman sits atop a rock platform and overlooks the beach. Near the Carlsbad Tide Pools, surfers float in the shallow end, making their way into deeper waters.

  • A dozen swimmers float in the water. The orange glow from the rapidly approaching sunset illuminates the hillside near the Carlsbad Tide Pools.

  • The soon-approaching sunset painted the sky with a pale orange. Sage Creek juniors Tabitha Evans and Carter Eades can be seen searching for “critters” at the tide pools during low tide.

  • A boat sails in the distance amidst a seemingly empty ocean. Nearly a dozen birds surround the moving boat.
