Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers was unable to defeat the strong Chiefs defense on Monday.

Chiefs at the Chargers

The Chiefs (6-4) and the Chargers (4-6) met in Mexico City on Monday for the NFL International Series. The Chiefs offense struggled against the Chargers defense in the first quarter and were unable to score any points. The Chargers offense played strongly but were unable to get a touchdown and instead opted for a field goal. The second quarter began with the Chargers up 3-0. The Chiefs got their first touchdown of the night followed by a field goal from the Chargers. The Chiefs kicked a field goal with a minute and forty-three seconds left before the half, the Chargers then got their third field goal to end the first half. The Chiefs were up 10-9 to start the second half.

The Chargers defense fell apart in the third quarter allowing the Chiefs to score two more touchdowns. The Chargers scored their first touchdown with under two minutes left in the third quarter and successfully went for a two point conversion. The Chiefs were up 24-15 heading into the fourth quarter. After an impressive final drive by the Chargers, Phillip Rivers threw his fourth inception ending the Chargers chances of winning the game. The Chiefs won 24-17. The Chiefs are now (7-4) and the (4-7).
