Many people also know Deyo as being outgoing and meme-like. Her attitude displayed through her Instagram mirrors her personality.

Not afraid to express her thoughts and personality, Sage Creek junior Mary Deyo runs several social media accounts on which she posts updates on her life, as well as many jokes and memes.

Deyo tends to post some things that cause controversies such as things regarding politics and veganism. Although her intentions are just to be funny, many people seem to get offended. Other than that, some of her posts are widely talked about because of their “memey” content.

Deyo started Instagram early on in sixth grade. She started by just posting funny pictures.

“I started out on Instagram just because I found out about it and it looked fun so I said ‘why not,’” Mary Deyo stated.

Her Instagram first started getting attention when she posted a video of her making quesadillas in eighth grade.

Deyo became known as a quesadilla maker after posting a video she made mocking the “Strange Addictions” show with quesadillas. She proceeded to post more photos and videos about her making quesadillas.

“Mary made a video mimicking ‘Strange Addictions’ and made it say that she had an addiction to making quesadillas, the next day everyone was talking about it,” Deyo’s twin sister, Kim Deyo, said.

The video became widely talked about amongst Aviara Oaks Middle School students that year. Deyo then made a separate Instagram account for her quesadilla making.

“It was pretty funny to see how many people brought up the quesadilla video, I just made it for fun but it turned into a whole thing for the rest of the year,” Deyo explained.

Deyo also runs a meme account on Instagram. She mainly makes memes about being a Vegan.

Mary later went on to become vegan freshman year. She went back to edit the captions of the quesadilla posts and started posting about veganism and memes about veganism which later turned into its own account.

“She’s definitely very out there with her opinions, and she doesn’t hold back,” Kim Deyo added, “Mary holds very strong opinions and I think that is what makes her social media presence really stand out.”

However, she’s not only outgoing online.

“She is not shy but very outgoing. She has a very colorful personality,” Mary’s orchestra teacher, Mrs. Quionez, added.

Deyo ended by saying, “It’s just really easy [for me] to use social media to express [my] personality and thoughts.”
