Languages

All ASL classes are taught by Robin Newsom-Wuertz. According to the ASL 1 syllabus,  Students will develop fundamental skills in ASL vocabulary and grammar to meet basic communication needs.  Emphasis is placed on acquisition of both receptive and expressive skills.  In addition to learning the language, students will focus on knowledge of the Deaf community and the development of cultural awareness necessary for communication and interaction. Students will also gain an appreciation for the contributions of Deaf arts and humanities through the study of literature, folklore and the history of Deaf culture.

All Spanish classes are taught by Daniel Kramer, Jill Roth, Analia Lovenguth and Lacey Hungerford. According to the Spanish 1 syllabus, this  course develops Spanish language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading and writing material. It will cover basic Spanish vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar in the target language. Students will also obtain an understanding of the history, traditions and customs of the Spanish-speaking cultures.
