Mukkbang

Mukkbang

Mukkbang is a subcategory of ASMR videos, originated in South Korea. In Korean “Muk” stands for food and “bang” stands for broadcast. It grew from 85 million views in October 2017 to 138 million views in April 2018. In a typical mukkbang video, a person whispers in a mic as they eat a variety of foods with different textures. People have been eating food such as honeycomb, sugar-coated fruits, and sea grapes, a type of caviar. The sound of people crunching on sugar-coated strawberries or popping caviar in their mouths is satisfying to the senses.
