5 Things We Learned From the “New Avengers: Infinity War” Trailer
Apr 24, 2018
On Friday, March 16th, Marvel Studios and Disney released the official and final trailer to their upcoming all star superhero film, “Avengers: Infinity War.” With the release of the trailer, tickets are now officially on sale. According to Fandango.com, it now holds the highest pre-sale ticket record on their service. It only took six hours for it to now hold the record as the fastest-selling superhero movie in the first 24 hours. Now, let’s discuss five key things that we learned from the latest trailer.
Wakanda plays a huge role in the film
In the trailer, we see that the main — and presumably — final battle will be taking place in Wakanda, which is the homeland of T’Challa, also known as the Black Panther. In a recent interview, the Russo Brothers — who are the directors of the film — stated that the entire third act of the film takes place in Wakanda. What has been shown in the trailers (where our heroes are in Wakanda) is most likely the third act of the film. Besides the battle, Wakanda will also make some of our heroes stronger, particularly with Captain America and Iron Man. We see that Tony Stark gets a new suit of armor and Steve Rogers gets a new type of shield. These upgrades most likely were provided from the Wakandans, including T’Challa and Shuri.
Iron Man’s new suit has many hidden features
One of the occurring things in these films is that Tony Stark always gets a newly-upgraded suit of armor. In this trailer, we see that Tony’s new suit possesses new features such as a rocket booster. According to Entertainment Weekly, this new suit of armor provides a set of wings, rocket boosters, and arm cannons. The suit — which is called the Bleeding Edge armor — wraps around Tony’s body with the help of a new arc reactor. The way he puts his armor on is very similar to how T’Challa gets in his Black Panther suit.
Thanos will been given a backstory
This trailer is all focused on Thanos, from learning about his evil plan to seeing a younger version of himself. According to the trailer, his plan is to wipe out half of the universe and humanity itself. With that, we also get to see a flashback scene of a young Thanos, wearing the full armor suit, with a young Gamora walking into a big dust cloud. Josh Brolin, who provides the voice and motion capture of the character, details that the character is very emotional and sympathetic to play.
The Black Order are finally shown
With Thanos trying to get all of the infinity stones, he needs a couple of soldiers to help drive his plan in destroying half of the universe. These soldiers come in the form of the Black Order. One scene shows the four of them with Loki, who is presumably captured. According to the Russo Brothers, the team originally planned to have six members. The other two were obviously supposed to be Gamora and Nebula, who are the daughters of Thanos. Because of them betraying their father, there are now only four in the group.
There will be a massive fight against Thanos on Titan
Thanos’s home planet is Titan. In the trailer, it seems that a selected few heroes will be traveling to his planet to fight him before he gets to Earth. Those few heroes are Iron Man, Star-Lord, Drax, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. For those who saw the trailer at D23 Expo, at some point during this fight Thanos uses the powers he has from the gauntlet to throw a planet at our heroes. During that moment, according to this trailer, Spider-Man will be swinging around, presumably to stop the chunks of the planet from hitting the other heroes with his new suit.
