5 Things We Learned From New Justice League Trailer
This past weekend, Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. Pictures released the first official trailer for Justice League. The new trailer revealed more action scenes and plot for the upcoming DC film. However, there are a few things that we noticed from the trailer that you probably didn’t catch.
- There Is a Reference To The Dark Knight Returns in the Trailer
In the very first scene of the trailer, Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) is riding on a horse in the snow. In The Dark Knight Returns, there is a famous comic book scene where Batman is charging on a black steed. Even though he is not in costume, it is still a clear homage and throwback to Frank Miller’s comic of The Dark Knight.
- The Knightcrawler Makes a Quick Appearance
During the film production of Justice League, Snyder mentioned that Batman will have a new “toy” to use in the film. That “toy” has been revealed to be the Knightcrawler, which is a vehicle that can go underground, make its own tunnels and hold four heroes inside. It also has four massive mechanical arms for punching through walls or taking out enemies. Needless to say, don’t try to go one-on-one with The Knightcrawler.
- Mera and Jim Gordon Also Make Quick Appearances
This film is not only meant to bring the team of heroes together. It is also meant to set up more characters for the DC Extended Universe. One of those characters is Mera. In the comics, Mera is the wife of Aquaman. Amber Heard, who is known for her role in Friday Night Lights, will be playing the role of Mera. Jim Gordon also makes an appearance in the trailer. Gordon is the commissioner of the Gotham Police Department and a close friend to Batman. J.K Simmons will be playing the role of Gordon. Both Mera and Gordon will have short and small roles in the film.
- Henry Allen will Make an Appearance in the Film
In the trailer, there is a quick scene that reveals Henry Allen talking to Barry Allen(played by Ezra Miller) in jail. Henry is the father of Barry and has made numerous appearances in the comics and on the CW show, The Flash. Billy Crudup will be playing Henry in the film as a small cameo.
- Reverse Flash might be Mentioned in Justice League
Reverse Flash is the main villain and enemy to The Flash. He possesses the same speed powers as The Flash and is in some ways more powerful than other speedsters. In the comics, Barry Allen’s mother was killed by Reverse Flash and his father went to prison because of Reverse Flash’s actions. He also has made countless appearances on The Flash TV Show. If they want to expand the DC Extended Universe, Reverse Flash would be a great character to use. He can introduce storylines like The Flashpoint Paradox, which is a story about The Flash going back in time and creates a new future with a new Batman and a war between Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
The trailer presented many different concepts that the DC Extended Universe is planning to use in their next upcoming films. Plus, there are many action scenes to look forward to. Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
