House of Representatives Stops the Use of of Taxpayer Money for Abortions

Days before “March for Life,” an organization that aims to stop legalized abortion on demand, organized their annual rally in Washington D.C. The House of Representatives stopped the utilization of taxpayer money for abortions. However, money may be used for abortions that protect the life of the mother in cases of rape or incest.

Trump Signs Executive Action Plan for Oil Pipelines

This week, President Trump advanced the approval of oil pipelines― Dakota Access and Keystone XL. Trump plans to “get that pipeline built” with U.S. materials to curtail the environmental review system. Despite former President Barack Obama denying company construction and Native American protests, Trump plans to continue supporting the building of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

La La Land Dominates Academy Awards

The romantic musical, featuring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, received 14 Oscar nominations, which ties with Titanic. La La Land was nominated for best directing, best picture, and best original screenplay.

Trump Freezes EPA

President Trump ordered a cessation of grants and contracts under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The freeze could jeopardize the many actions that EPA regulates, such as toxic cleanups and water quality testing.

Britain’s Supreme Court Deems Parliament Responsible for Brexit

Britain’s Supreme Court handed the responsibility of leaving the European Union(EU)  to Parliament. This new ruling ties up the hands of Prime Minister Theresa May who pushed for Article 50― a process of leaving the EU.
