Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them tells the story of Newt Scamander, played by Eddie, and his adventures in New York with a case of “fantastic beasts” to a secret community of wizards and witches.

After eight Harry Potter films, David Yates and J.K Rowling return to the magical world with their latest film, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Robinson, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, and Colin Farrell. Can Yates bring us another great Harry Potter Film? Is it a good prequel to the Harry Potter Franchise? Let’s find out.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them tells the story of Newt Scamander, played by Eddie, and his adventures in New York with a case of “fantastic beasts” to a secret community of wizards and witches. Along the way, his case gets opened and his “fantastic beasts” are loose in the city. With the help of his friend Tina, played by Katherine Robinson, they will adventure through the streets of New York in 1926 to find all the missing beasts and put them back in the case.

In my opinion, this really solid film has some incredible visual effects when it comes to the magic scenes. The magical elements in the film are really unique to watch and they make you want to be a wizard yourself. I highly recommend that moviegoers see this movie in the 3-D format so they can get the best movie experience from this film.

Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander, has won an Oscar for Best Actor back in 2015. He has a funny and charming attitude, however, he is often very antisocial and somewhat awkward towards the other main characters.

Robinson plays Tina, one of Scamander’s friends, as well as a wizard police officer who patrols the streets of New York City.  She has a relatable and protective attitude throughout the story, which gives different personalities for her character. Both of these characters were fun and enjoyable and have great character moments throughout the film.

Even though the film has a lot of positives, there is also some negative to be said. Colin Farrell, the villain of the film, wasn’t a very menacing villain. His motivations for being a villain were not very clear. Also, Farrell is not intimidating or imposing, which is not good since he was playing the main villain of the film. Furthermore, the film has too many stories that don’t work well together.

There are stories for certain characters that don’t get enough time to develop and flesh out, which loses some character development for those certain characters. If these stories had more screentime, they might have more impact to the plot of the film and make us care more about those certain characters in the film.

Overall, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is a really good film, which features amazing visual effects and good acting from Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Robinson. The story needed a little more time to develop the supporting characters and needed to focus on one solid story for the entire film. Go see this film when you get the chance to. According to David Yates, J.K Rowling and him plan to make five more films to add the Harry Potter franchise. So, don’t think that the wizard world is leaving anytime soon.
