On Friday, Oct. 24, Sage Creek High School hosted its first rally of the school year in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Pink Out Rally brought students and staff together to celebrate school spirit while also raising awareness for an important cause.
The gym was filled with pink decorations, including balloons, posters and ribbons. The event was organized by Sage Creek ASB, who, according to ASB Director Mrs. Tapia, began planning it in early September. It also had small, fun competitions between the different grades and staff.
ASB worked hard to organize this event, coordinating with multiple student groups to make it a success. They brought together

the VAPA team, dance team and cheerleading team to perform. Their dedication and collaboration helped make the rally both exciting and memorable for everyone.
Mrs. Tapia explained that the pep rally serves two main purposes.
“First, it’s like our fall celebration rally, so it’s to recognize the fall sport athletes. All of our fall activities, and then also recognizing spring accomplishments,” Tapia said. “But we always try to keep this first pep rally in October so that we can also raise our breast cancer awareness.”
The event also featured performances from the dance and cheer teams and the VAPA department.
“We don’t always get all of the groups participating and [it] just depends on their availability,” Mrs. Tapia said. “It was cool to see all the groups come together to perform during the rally.”
In addition to the performances, ASB worked throughout the week to raise awareness for breast cancer. Students could sign ribbons to honor anyone they knew who battled breast cancer. Mrs. Tapia also added that “all the giveaway items were breast cancer related or pink.”
According to senior Abraham Ibañez, the event let students show their Bobcat pride.
“You could really see how strong the school is.”
