The 2025 NFL Draft was chock-full of twists and turns, trading and excitement. The ceremony was held on April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, at Lambeau Field, the home of the Packers. Football enthusiasts flocked to the Draft in the thousands, with the league saying 600,000 fans attended the event over the course of three days, according to NBC26.
One student, Connor Flynn, is an official NFL superfan and has firm opinions on the upcoming season and draft. “I expect that the Seahawks are going to do amazing and win the Super Bowl, or the Philadelphia Eagles will 2-peat,” he said.
However, not everyone feels the same way. Benjamin Holzhaur, another student of Sage Creek, has strong feelings supporting his team. “Oh yeah, we got those New Orleans Saints, Kelvin Banks Jr. first-round pick. Tyler Shough, an amazing QB, I think he’s going to do really well,” he said.
Flynn was very surprised by some picks in this year’s draft. “Shedeur Sanders falling to the fifth round was most surprising because he was predicted to be picked top ten, but he got drafted like 140th or something,” he said.
This year’s NFL Draft was a thrill, here are the top five most surprising picks according to popular opinion. For a full list of the draft picks in all seven rounds, visit NFL.com

- Shedeur Sanders, quarterback from University of Colorado Boulder, fell into the 5th round, picked 144th overall by the Cleveland Browns, despite being predicted to be picked in the top ten.
- New Orleans Saints took Tyler Shough from Louisville over other available quarterbacks such as Shadeur Sanders or Jalen Milroe.
- Chicago Bears took Coleston Loveland over Tyler Warren, both top tight ends in the draft. Though not being picked over Coleston Loveland, Tyler Warren was viewed as a much better prospect, having won the award for best tight end in college football in 2024.
- Jaguars traded picks with the Browns to get Travis Hunter, a versatile two-way player. Although Travis Hunter was the top prospect coming into the draft, he is not viewed as a franchise-changing player. This will likely hurt the Jaguars in the long run, as they gave up a lot of picks they had for next year’s draft.
- Luther Burden fell to the second round after being a projected top 20 pick. He was one of the best receivers in all of college football throughout his college career. Despite a negative dip in stats last college season, he was still viewed as a very promising prospect for this year’s draft.
NFL fans are expecting a great 2025-2026 season, including long-time NFL Fan Mr. Dan, who is putting his faith in his team. “I think the Chargers will do really well with their draft picks; they got a nice Running Back from the draft,” he said. “Yeah, that’s my team, so I’m really hoping that they do well this year like they do every year.”
