As 2024 is finally at a close, so many movies left us on the edge of our seats. “Inside Out 2”, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Wicked,” “Dune 2” and “Moana 2,” are only a few great movie releases to mention.
However, why not look forward to some exciting new movies in 2025?
“Snow White”
An unexpected live-action Disney movie breathes new life to the classic tale of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and will come out on March 21. The movie stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, who are said to fit their roles perfectly. The fantastic film will retell the story of a sweet-hearted princess who must face the jealous and beauty-obsessed queen.
Marc Webb, the director of the movie and the unforgettable “Amazing Spider-Man” maintains the original fairytale but adds a spark of modern charm. To tie it all together the movie will contain original songs by composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, perfecting the film.
“Fantastic Four”
Marvel Studios is once again releasing the “Fantastic Four” on July 25. The movie will bring the classic comic characters to life as it discovers the origins of Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing). The movie is directed by Matt Shakman, who also produced WandaVision, and will set the foundation for cosmic-level conflicts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Wicked: For Good”
The first “Wicked” received deserved attention, and because the famous film is technically a two-part musical, there is so much more to see. Fans praise the characters Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good Witch, played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who both not only sing incredibly but also emphasize the message of standing up for the greater good regardless of their surrounding corrupt society. The hype of this film caused people of all ages to desire more.
Fans will have to wait for far too long, but the anticipation ends shortly as “Wicked 2: For Good “releases on Nov 21.
In the second film, songs like “Thank Goodness” to “No Good Deed” will be sung by Grande and Erivo. After defying gravity, Elphaba takes a more active role in order to help animals and will face challenges with her identity, alongside Glinda.
Sophomore at Sage Gabriella Markos said, “I’m excited for ‘Wicked Part 2’ because they kind of left us on a cliffhanger where it just ended on singing.”
“Avatar: Fire and Ash”
With the third “Avatar” installment, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” coming out on Dec. 19, there is much to look forward to. As “The Way of Water” received a $2 billion worldwide earning, it’s clearly seen how much attention the sci-fi franchise receives. Also after the “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” video game, the avatar lovers are anticipating Avatar 3.
The third chapter offers a bigger cast and many returning Academy Award winners like Kate Winslet. This chapter also introduces the “Ash People,” a Na’vi clan that lives in volcanic regions of Pandora who are much more aggressive and complex. This will challenge the pure peace of Pandora.
An expanded new villain cast including Oona Chaplin, known for her work in “Game of Thrones,” will be implemented in the film. Chaplin plays Varang, the brave leader of the new clan, and David Thewlis plays Peylak, a Na’vi character that may be connected to the Ash People.
Cadence Gradillas, a sophomore at Sage Creek, said, “I’m excited for the third ‘Avatar’ because I’ve been watching the series and I really enjoy it and I think the CVI is going to be good.”
From fairy-tail-inspired movies like “Snow White” and “Wicked: For Good” to action-packed films like “Avatar: Fire and Ash” and “Fantastic Four,” the year of 2025 is going to be an exciting year for the film world. With a mix of enchanting stories to adrenaline-filled adventures, there is something for every audience.
