On Thursday, Oct. 31, Sage Creek ASB held a Dress to Impress-themed costume contest in the Sage Creek High School cutout to showcase students’ amazing creativity. The contest drew a variety of costumes, including an inflatable chicken, a wizard and a pair of bananas.
The popular Roblox game ”Dress To Impress” inspired the judging process, where contestants earn points based on their costume’s creativity and overall execution. While the judges were scoring them, the contestants walked down a red carpet to the game’s popular theme song. The top 3 contestants, determined by the most allocated points won, received a Halloween-themed bag containing candy and trinkets.
ASB Freshman Class President Katie Knisley expressed how she “I loved the energy and confidence each contestant had, It was cool to see kids step out of their comfort zone who normally don’t.”
Even though there were so many great costumes, it came down to a group of playful bananas, while an anime character captured the audience’s attention with his amazing dance moves. The winners were Isaac Danon in first place, Bianca Shen in second, and Nate Arrogante and Addie Ewald in third. These costumes show how different students display their personalities and interests through stellar costumes.
The atmosphere was such an exciting place to be, filled with enthusiasm as students went up to present their costumes to the judges. One of the winners, Isaac Danon, said he “had a great time seeing students getting involved with the school spirit while expressing their uniqueness and perspectives through their Halloween costumes.”
“I really think that Halloween contests give students the opportunity to be in the spotlight without fear of embarrassment,” he said.
The Dress to Impress costume contest was not just a way to show off student creativity but another way to bring students together. These events prompt school spirit and connect students across all grade levels; another reason why Sage Creek High School is a strong community.
