On Oct. 10, 2023, Sage Creek Varsity Girls Volleyball took on Rancho Bernardo in this year’s annual senior night.
This was Sage Creek’s last home regular season girl’s volleyball game of the year. It was also the annual “Pink Out” game, a yearly tradition for the volleyball team. An estimated 200-plus spectators came out to support the team in the neck-and-neck matchup.
Before the Tuesday night duel, the night started with the senior night festivities. The celebrations of the players consisted of honoring the seniors and their dedication to the program for the past four years and taking photos with them and their families.
After the emotions and “feels” ended, the game was underway.
The game was an exciting back-and-forth matchup all night, where Sage Creek ended up winning in 5 sets after losing their first set. The Broncos who were undefeated in league play to this point did not make it easy but the Bobcats ultimately came out on top.
The student section showed up on Tuesday night. They came loud and impactful, and everyone was on their feet rooting for the girls.
Sage Creek sophomore Kellen Barclay Mcall, who attended the game, said, “I enjoy coming to these games to go and hang out with friends, and it is an overall great experience and they do a good job of putting out a great environment.”
It’s safe to say that the student section had a big part in helping the girls push past the Broncos.
Sianna Granato, a sophomore on varsity for Sage Creek, said, “The energy between the Bob Squad and our team really hyped us to come back.” The Broncos who previously beat Sage Creek earlier in the season had no answer for the Bobcats at home.
Way to end the last home event of the season, girls!
