SCHS Field Hockey vs Torrey Pines

In an effort to win their first game in league, the varsity Bobcats battled the Torrey Pines Falcons. However, their endeavor resulted in a disappointing loss of 0-4.

At the 10 minute mark, the Bobcats snatched the ball back from the Falcons, who originally started with the ball on their side. Sage Creek got the ball into the scoring zone, but was unable to score after numerous attempts.

Junior Bailey Daynes, a midfield player, made several attempts at getting the ball up the field, but was unfortunately getting stopped each time by the Falcon’s defense. “It was definitely one of our hardest fought games, unfortunately it ended in a loss,” junior Chloe McGovern says.

The defensive line powered through the tough Torrey Pines offense, stopping numerous shots. Sophomores Taylor Riley and Sophia Parks, as well as senior Clarissa Birmingham were marking their opposers and forwards. Juniors Megan Mattson, Chloe McGovern and, Gabi Larsen give a helping hand with the defence, letting the Bobcats put up a decent blockade.

The Bobcat defense gave up about fifteen penalty corners, but their 4 solid junior defenders: Mia Bodnar, Logan McAndrews, Alex Morel, and goalie Brittany Miller, tried protecting the goal from the whole Falcon offense.

With a predominantly younger team and only two seniors, Emily Hood and Clarissa Birmingham, a great expectations are expected in the future of this sport at Sage Creek.
