The Clowns Are Coming! The Clowns Are Coming!
Oct 20, 2016
Clowns are everywhere. With the wave of new horror movies such as Clown directed by Eli Roth, people are starting to get more creative. So how could we expect people to not want to scare others? Honestly, the killer clown fiasco was only a matter of time. There’s a Joker in everyone right?
It really surprised me when I found that people are frightened and outraged by the clowns that stand there and act all creepy. What do they expect in the midst of Halloween, a friendly hello instead of a loud scream? That is the point of Halloween, is it not? The “killer clown” thing has been around for decades.
It started in England in 1986, when Stephen King decided to dress as a clown for a “story idea” that he later claimed was all a hoax and was not writing a story on it. He caused mass hysteria and fear of clowns in the mid-to-late 80s, by walking around dressed as a clown and scaring the living daylights out of people. It ended when the people around him took him to court and forced him to stop, and that is when the truth came out: it was just for giggles.
I believe it is all a hoax and that they need to stop clowning around about intentions to hurt people when they would not actually do it. All they do is send in threats and lies to this so-called “hit list” that they have created, according to BBC News, and never actually do anything. We should not take any measures because they are not doing any harm besides some adrenaline rush to some poor victim of a scare. One of the more recent threats was to a London hospital, which has stopped hospital events in the near future.
I think it is absolutely ridiculous for the “clowns” to state who they are targeting, especially when they start to target hospitals and schools. That is just rude; in a hospital you do not know who could be in there. Not only that, but the nurses do not want to have to worry about their patients and these clowns. There could be people in there that seeing a clown would trigger some sort of life-threatening attack. The hospital employees should be more aware of this, and if they see a clown, call security to have them escorted off hospital grounds.
The clowns need to end soon or it will get out of hand on all angles.
