Jets at the Redskins

After their win against long time rival the Giants, the Jets (2-7) had hoped to beat the struggling Redskins (1-8) at Washington. The Redskins had hoped to end their three game losing streak with a win at home. The Jets had an excellent running game throughout the first quarter and scored an early touchdown. However Jets kicker Sam Ficken missed the extra point. The Redskins defense fell apart as the Jets continued their domination throughout the first quarter. The first quarter concluded with the Jets up 6-0 in excellent field position to score a touchdown. The second quarter began with the Jets scoring a field goal although they had another chance at a touchdown after the Redskins got a flag for roughing the kicker. Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson caught quarterback Sam Darnolds pass in the endzone for the Jets second touchdown. Redskins kicker Dustin Hopkins managed to make a forty-four yard field goal halfway through the second quarter. The Jets ended the first half with a touchdown pass to Ryan Griffin with only thirty-six seconds left in the second quarter.

The second half began with the Jets up 20-3 against the powerless Redskins. The third quarter was slow for both teams with no points being scored. The fourth quarter was much different with two back-to-back touchdowns for the Jets. The first being a twenty-nine yard pass to Jamison Crowder and the second a five-yard run by Le’Veon Bell for the Jets fourth touchdown. The Redskins scored a touchdown pass and managed to get a two point conversion as well. With a minute and eleven seconds left in the game the Redskins scored one last touchdown pass to end the game. The Redskins two touchdown comeback was far too little and far too late. The Jets ultimately won 34-17. The Jets are now (3-7) and the Redskins are (1-9).
