Neighboring Carlsbad Village and Tamarack Beach, the NRG Cabrillo Power Plant starts deconstruction on its controversial smokestack building this week. Attempts to classify the 400 foot tall structure as a historical landmark and reserve it as the county’s backup plant failed as NRG released their announcement.
