Scars Are Left After Loss to RBV

Sage Creek’s baseball team had their hearts metaphorically ripped out of their chests in their loss against Rancho Bueno Vista (RBV), one game after losing against San Pasqual.

Senior Jonathan Molina was the starting pitcher for Sage as they faced-off against long time foe, RBV. Molina pitched the game to its entirety, all 10 innings of it. This is an impressive feat on its own, but what is most impressive is that he was pitching what is called “a perfect game” for nearly seven innings. His perfect game was ruined by a single hit in the seventh. This means he faced 20 batters, and not a single one of them made it to first base- no hits, no walks, and no errors for almost seven innings. As Molina was dealing a full game without letting a player touch first base, the team felt the rush and played great defense so that when Molina wasn’t striking out batters he could continue his colossal performance.

Unfortunately, on the offensive side of the game, the Bobcats were dry. The Bobcats only had three hits, and both teams went scoreless into the 10th inning. Looking to extend their life another inning on the road, Molina felt the stress of a close game and gave up a two run shot to end the game on a walk off homerun. RBV ended the game with two runs, while Sage Creek scored none.

The team left the game in silence, not wanting to make a comment about the outcome of the game.

Sage Creek’s varsity baseball team is having a trying season and with a record of 1-4-2 (2-4-2 after win against Classical Saturday). They have had trouble scoring, and lots of trouble scoring more than their opponents. They are looking for some kind of inspiration to get them out of their slump and into a winning streak.
